If you are having a Preganacy and visiting the Spa- the following are answers to some of the more frequently asked questions.
| Question #1 | I am pregnant - can I still visit the Spa? |
| Answer: | In most cases the answer is yes, however, once you know you are preganant, before you visit us please speak with your doctor and discuss it with them. They will tell you the do's and don'ts of visiting our Spa for treatments. In many instances, your doctor will prescibe pregancy massages for you at our Spa to help you with the pain and discomfort that often occurs when you are pregnancy
NOTE - IT IS MANADATORY for your health and your babies well being that you disclose to our staff that you are preganat. If it is your first to our Spa note it on your intake forms and if you are a regular guest but newly pregnant please let our staff know to update your files. In all case please ALSO verbally inform your service provider before any treatments begin |

| Answer: | Preganancy is an exciting but likely very demanding time for you. Did you know that there is a simple way to help to alleviate stress and labour pain, and improve your soon-to-be-born baby’s health while also reducing the risk of complications? The centuries-old practice of massage therapy can help to provide these benefits and many more to you and your unborn baby.
A Pregnancy massage can benefit you during your pregnancy, labour and birthing. Studies support what more and more women are discovering about massage therapy during pregnancy – it has been shown to:
improve maternal mood
decrease depression and anxiety
decrease pain
decrease stress hormones in pregnant women (including those suffering from depression)
decrease obstetrical complications, and
improve neonatal health and development. |

| Question #3 | Are ther any other benefits to a Pregnancy Massage? |
| Answer: | Addition benefits can include improved mood to maternal and neonatal health. A Pregnancy Massage has the potential to positively impact the health of individual mothers and children.
There is also evidence that massage therapy through the labour and birthing process helps to:
decrease pain in all three stages of labour (latent, active, and transition),
reduce anxiety in the latent stage,
reduce stress during labour, and
increase the quality of your experience of childbirth.
These immediate effects of massage therapy may affect other longer-term effects such as decreased length of labour, shorter hospital stay, less touch sensitivity and fewer instances of postpartum depression.

| Question #4 | What concerns should I have about a Pregnancy Massage? |
| Answer: | You and your baby’s well-being comes first. Registered Massage Therapists are professionally trained to work with you to develop an effective and safe massage therapy treatment plan during your pregnancy that will complement the care you are receiving from your doctor and other healthcare providers.
We have Specially massages pillow with ergonomic cushions and supports that are used to ensure your safety and comfort during your massage therapy treatment. Massage Therapists are also prepared to address the subtle needs of expectant mothers like yourself, including the potential need for frequent restroom breaks and the use of unscented massage oil so as to not aggravate a sensitive sense of smell. Good communication with your therapist will result in the most beneficial and rewarding pregnancy-massage therapy for you and your baby.

| Question #5 | Preganacy Massage therapy – is it a safe and effective way to improve the experience of birth.

| Answer: | Although massage therapy is an ancient art, it is a relatively new field of scientific inquiry. While more research remains to be done, evidence of the benefits of pregnancy massage to both mother and baby continues to mount.
In most case Pregnancy Massages are safe and effective but ALWAY ask your doctor before have your massage and ALWAYS inform your therapist before your treatment begins. |

| Question #6 | Can I have Day Spa treatments while I am pregnant? |
| Answer: | Some Day Spa Treatments such as Manicures and Pedicures are safe for Pregnant woman however make sure you first discuss it with your doctor and ALWAYS let our Spa Esthetians know before you have treatments.
Treatments such as Facials and Waxing are in most cases safe but our staff will discuss the treatment with you beforehand to dicuss any contra-indications.
Treaments such as Aromatherapies with some Essential Oils, Body Wraps and Scubs should not be done during pregnancy. |

| Question #7 | Can I do Medispa treatments during Pregnancy? |
| Answer: | Only a few Medispa treatments are safe during pregnancy, however, before any treatments are done you must first have a consult with our Medical Esthetician AND than before treatements are performed discuss them with your doctor and get their approval to proceed. |

| Question #8 | What can I do about my Stretch Marks |
| Answer: | We have a number of wonderful Day and Medispa services, as well as Home Spa treatments that can help reduce the appearence of stretch marks. These treatments would normally begin after you have given bitrh. Our staff can discuss treatmnet options with you in more detail. |
